STP 2008

Well, I probably haven't blogged forever for 2 reasons... 1-I've just been so busy, I thought summer was supposed to be relaxing... and 2- because then I have to tell all of my fellow bloggers that I did not do the STP. :( I actually decided a couple of weeks before that I wasn't going to do it. After one of our 100 mile rides, I got off the bike and thought to myself, "Self, do you really want to try and do this for ANOTHER 7 or 8 hours? Really?" and my response to my self was.... "HELL NO!"... so I bailed on the riding part. I was really disappointed, I trained a ton. But when I first decided to do it, I thought there were going to be quite a few of us and it would be super fun and yadda yadda yadda. But, when it came down to the week before and it was just Jacob, Jared Despain and myself... again I said, "Self, do you really want to try to keep up with these two guys and slow them down and then not be able to finish because you've been trying to ride their pace?" and again, my response was, "Nope, not really!" So I did not ride. Which was ok. Jacob would've rode with me at a slower pace, but it would've taken me probably 15 or 16 hrs. As it was, they did it in about 12... 10 actual riding hours. They rocked it! I was really proud of them.

I went ahead and went with them, Jacob, Jared and at the last minute Billy Neff also decided to go. So we piled in the truck and headed to Seattle. I wont give you a play by play, but basically they left at 4:30 and I met them along the way with food and water. I decorated the truck and had a great time. They met up with Tim, from Olympia, someone they met on the ride, and they all did so good. I don't know how they do it, honestly. Here are some pics...

I had paint all over the truck, that was the funnest part for me... all of the riders loved my "STP or BONK!" sign...

4th of July!

So we started out the day with our ward breakfast, which I was not in charge of. (I was the activity person in our ward for the last 3 years) So I had no resposibilities, except cooking the sausage. Anyway, we did that and then we headed out to Fishhook Park, out past Burbank, for a day of fun. There were probably 10 or more other families that we went out with and we had tons of fun. Lots of kids, food, sun and water. Some friends of ours took out their boat, so that was fun. The water is still really cold though. Kyson went on the tube and had a good time! We left the park around 9 and headed into Burbank where you could see fireworks going off everywhere. It was a fun drive. Then we stopped at my cousins house in Burbank, and lit off fireworks with them, since they are illegal in Kennewick. Between them, us and their neighbors, we had a small, or not so small, arsenol. It was a lot of fun. Only one small mishap when one of the roman candles tipped over and kept shooting right at the house and porch where everyone was sitting. oops...Landon didn't like the sound. He kept his hands over his ears the whole time and then got back in the truck. Here are a few pics of the super fun day.

all Kennedy ate all day was chips...

On Saturday, we went back out on the boat with the Hansens, just the adults this time, and it was so fun to be able to relax and not worry about the kids. The Columbia was freezing, but we braved it anyway. I jumped in to wake board and it was so friggin cold I couldn't talk. It took me a minute to catch my breath. I was lucky enough that I got up my first time, I was worried, but it was so cold, there was no way I was going to sit in the water again. Then I was up and getting so tired, my arms and hands were hurting, but I did not want to get back into the water. I actually was trying to figure out if I could just pull myself up the rope to the boat. I let go and had them throw the kneeboard and did that for a bit, while I was already frozen and numb. It was super fun! Totally different experience when its just the adults. Jacob & Cory wakeboarded, (those guys make it all look so easy, it doesn't feel as easy and they make it look to me.) Sonja rocked the kneeboard, she went forever! Then she decided to try out the wake board for the first time and totally got up, her first time ever. I can't believe she was crazy enough to get in again! We had a great weekend. Its so fun to have such great friends to hang out with.

Oh, we also saw Hancock over the weekend. I think I really liked it. It was alot different than what I expected but I liked it. Hope you all had a great weekend too!

What The...

I'm on the computer, paying bills this morning, and Ky comes running in the house screaming, "Landon is stuck under the garage door!" What?! I go running out to the garage and sure enough there is Landon laying on his stomach with the garage door stuck on top of him. Screaming! I try to raise the door, to no avail. It will not budge. Its. Just. Stuck. There! I tell Kyson to grab my phone so I can call.... Who? Jacob? 911? ??? I keep on trying to raise the garage door, but it is just stuck, and I'm afraid everytime I push the button, that the door is going to smash him even more. So as I'm telling Ky to dial 911, I push the button again and up it goes. It starts raising... Can I tell you, I was almost freaking out. I'm having all of these flashes of stories I've heard and the kid dies from being smashed. So he gets up, he has a big red mark on his poor little back. But he seems fine. Do I take him in? Could there be anything wrong inside? I'm not sure what to do. Jacob thinks he is ok. He seems fine. Now he is taking a nap. I think I will see how he is when he wakes up. Stuff like that scares me though. The stuff that could've happened on the inside that you can't see. Anyway, SCARY! I am so thankful he is ok! And I am getting someone to look at the garage. If a broom is in the way, it pops up, but a child? Seriously? It just stays down? Not good...

So how it happened? Apparently Ky was closing the garage and Landon wanted to get in first... I don't think he'll ever try that again. (I kinda wish I had a picture, it was quite a site to see!)
