First Clod of the Summer for me
This morning I got up and rode up Clodfelter... well half of it. I went to "the dogs" which is only 5 of the 10 miles. The guys all race and its this big competition. The goal is to get up it in 40 minutes or less. So I've decided they are ROCK STARS! I thought I'd give it a go this morning. Keep in mind I'm only eating 500 calories a day and not really supposed to do any strenuous exercise. I made it to "the dogs" in 31 minutes. Which I guess is only 5 or 6 minutes off of Jacob's time to the same place. I wanted to go a little further but the dogs were sitting right out on the road and apparently they will chase you if they are out. So I just turned around. I didn't think I was doing a very good time, but I guess the next 5 miles are not nearly as hard as the first 5, which is a solid climb.
The next part of the challenge... coming down at 50 mph... Ya... not me... not EVER! I came down at 20-30 mph and that is plenty fast to me. Its scary going any faster. Jacob hit 53 mph on the ride he did last weekend! WHAT! Holy Crap! The fastest I've ever gone on a bike was 40mph and I thought I was gonna die!
A couple of cute things happened this morning. Kennedy was up before I left. So I got her breakfast and then went out to the garage to get ready. While I was putting on my shoes she came out and said, "kiss mom" then just ran back in after getting her kiss. It just surprised me. It was so sweet.
Then when I got home, I came in and Ky had a card and letter for me and Jacob on the table and two bowls of "fruit salad" (since I don't eat sugar, he said). It was so sweet. I love it when they do thoughtful things. He hadn't even eaten his breakfast because he had been working on ours.
Yes, that is grapefruit, lemons, apples and carrots... all cut up and sliced and everything.
So back to The Clodfelter Challenge... I am totally going to do it in less than 45 minutes this summer. Thats my goal. I may not make it to sub 40 like the guys, but they are all masachists so I am ok with that! I'd be thrilled with a 45 minute ascent.

Kennedy
Kennedy is just about 2 1/2... She is still so good! It amazes me how easy she is to have around. She is quiet and so sweet and just kinda goes with the flow. She has to sit through all of the boys activities and all of the running around in the car and just doesn't seem to mind any of it.
Her new favorite thing to do is to lock doors behind her when she goes in a room. So the other day she goes in her room, closes the door and I hear a little "click" (the lock being pushed in). A few minutes go by and I hear her in the monitor, "MOMMEEE" I go up and find the door locked. I say, "Kennedy come open the door." She says, "cant mommee" I said, "are you in your bed?" "Yah," she says. "Ok, you are going to have to climb out of bed and come unlock the door." A couple of minutes go by and I hear, "click" the door being unlocked. So... now that she learned how to climb out of her bed... Now she sleeps in a big girl bed. She is talking so much more, she sings "I AM A Child of God" and "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam" and Popcorn Popping. Its very cute. She loves to play my guitar and sing. SHe is totally into playing now and says "LeeLee" (Liley Hansen) she tells me which babysitters she wants and everything. Oh, and she LOVES to talk on the phone. I can barely have a conversation without her being allowed to talk for a bit.
I just thought this was about the cutest picture ever!
She's always such a trooper being dragged around to all of the boys' activities. I love these pictures. I wish I was a better photographer because I think they could've been MUCH better.
Kennedy wanted to play TBall soooo bad. She'd be the first one to grab the helmet and bat. I don't think when its her turn she will have a problem going out on the field to play. She loved it!
Did I mention she loves to play the guitar and sing?
She has learned to pedal her bike. It is really hard to teach a 2 yr old how to pedal. I thought I was going to break my back leaning over helping her feet go forward not pushing back. But after a few tries she got it figured out and she loves to ride her bike with the boys. She always hangs her helmet on her handlebars, unlike the boys who will just put them whereever they fall... The differences between boys and girls never ceased to amaze me.

So I am getting better at thinking to grab my camera BEFORE I flip out over something. Like this.... I'd painted Kennedy's toes once, and she loved them. A few days later I go into my bathroom, which is carpeted I might add, to find this...

She actually did a pretty good job. There was no nail polish anywhere except ALL OVER HER FEET AND TOES. But it wasn't on the carpet or drawers or anywhere, so I was glad for that.
Not sure why I'm posting this picture, its definately not super flattering, but I think its kind of a fun picture.
And the BESTEST part is....
She's POTTYRAINED!!! YAY!!!
I can't believe how fast she is growing up! Its going by tooo fast!

Landon
Landon finished preschool last month. He could go into Kindergarten but we are going to wait one more year. His birthday is July 25th, and almost every person I talk to says its so much better to wait with kids when they have that late summer birthday, especially boys. So, one more year of preschool, which I think will be really good for him. He is still pretty shy and not crazy about new things. He loves preschool and his teachers and there are a couple of other kids staying too, so I think he will have a great year. He played TBall this year and is such a big helper at home with Kennedy in the mornings. He is so quick to help with chores and I rarely have to ask him twice to do things. He rides a BIG two wheeler. He looks so small on it. I'll have to get a picture of that next.
Preschool Program and Graduation. Landon actually sang this year during the program. I think that was a first. Usually he just stands there. We are making progress.

Playing Tball... we are also making progress here. He is usually so shy that during basketball he wouldn't actually go out on the court with the team. But he did good this time with tball. He is really good at hitting the ball for it being the first time he's played.

I'm not sure where this was taken, but Jacob's IPhone sure comes in handy with its movies on it. The kids LOVE to watch it.
Playing outside...

Ky...
I have been a seriously LAZY blogger lately (as have many of my friends... you know who you are..), so I'm gonna do a post for each kid over the next couple of days. Actually, I will probably do them all now while I'm thinking of it and then just delay the posts for a couple of days so it looks like I am back into the world of blogging...
So here are some pictures of Kyson.... He's done with school now, which he was so excited about, until I picked him up from school today. He was pretty sad to not be able to see his teacher all summer. Over the last few months he has done; soccer, baseball, he's played piano in the ward talent show and his school talent show and had his school musical program. He is also quite the little photographer. I stopped by a friend's house the other day and while I was inside for "just a minute" (ok... so it was a REALLY long minute) he decided to take some pictures of everything. Kids, flowers, himself, rocks, grass, you get the idea. He took these ones of his shadow, which I think are kinda cool and pretty creative. I don't think I've ever taken a picure of my shadow before.

Ya know how you pay $20. for pictures of the kids and their teams? Well, I do all my scrapbooking digitally and haven't really figured out a way to get those pictures you buy in a scrapbook. This time I decided to just take my own...

Here's baseball...

His school 1st grade musical. He had a solo... he did a great job.
It amazes me that he is comfortable in front of large groups. He does really well when he is performing.
