Sleep baby, sleep... Please!

Ok so being the anal mom I am... at the very young age of, oh, I don't know a few months, I put my babies to bed and they go to sleep. Well, with Kennedy, knowing that she's the baby and our probaly our last we have spoiled her when it comes to bedtime. Jacob likes to hold her and rock her, for EVER! He'll hold her for an hour or so... she falls asleep and he continues to hold her. He loves it, she loves it, I love to see it. But, I think its time that we put her down and let her fall asleep on her own. So we've tried that for the last couple of nights... NOT. GOING. SO. WEll! We lay her down, sing her songs, walk out, and she starts screaming. I know I probably don't need to do a play by play cuz you have all been there.

She'll cry for a bit. Then stop. Then cry some more. So my question to all of my mom friends is what do I do? Do I keep pushing putting her down? Or do I let Jacob hold her and rock her to sleep? And if we keep doing that when do we stop? And when we do stop and just lay her down, will she go down? Or will we be going through the same thing again. HELP! I don't know what to do. They boys were so much younger they have just always gone to bed so good. But Kennedy is such a good baby, who never cries, that we just can't bear to hear her cry for half hour or so...

Oh and by the way.. She just turned 2... So what do I do? What has been your expirience with this?

Ok... so after 40 minutes of crying... Jacob went and got her. She fell asleep in his arms with in minutes... and now she peacefully sleeps....

Mt. Bachelor with the Hansens!

We headed off to Mt. Bachelor last weekend with our friends, Cory & Sonja Hansen. We had a blast. I've been dieing to do a ski trip for quite a while... Isn't the Mountain beautiful?! We couldn't have asked for better weather. It was in the 40's and sunny, for the most part. Loved. It!

Riding the lift up..

Apparently there had been an ice storm a couple of days before we got there. The summitt was closed so we only had use of 1/2 the mountain. But the snow was perfect. A little bit of powder and mostly groomed. There were a few places where the powder was so deep, like to my thighs, with ice underneath. So after getting stuck once and having to hike my butt out of the powder, we decided to stick to the groomed runs. 3 feet of powder and snowboards are not a good mix... Anyway, back to the ice storm... I'm not exactly sure what Cory is doing in this picture, I probably don't want to know, but can you see how much ice is on the trees? They were totally frozen and covered with so much ice. I've never seen trees like that before.

Sun & Me waiting to get on the lift...

After skiing, well Jacob and I boarded, Hansen's skied, on Friday and Saturday, we went out Saturday night. We went into Bend to Old Mill District and did some shopping and had dinner at a little place there called the Martini Bar. It had the most random menu, but everything we got was SO good. I love that. Sun's curry was my favorite, and I had a steak that had Bleu Cheese sauce on it. Ok, so I have always been scared of Bleu Cheese, I rarely eat regular cheese... but twice now I've had it on something and have liked it. Does it always taste good? Who knew?

We just hung out back at the condo Saturday night and played games. We taught Cory and Sonja how to play Sequence... One of our favorite games. How we've been such good friends with them for so long and not played it with them before is a mystery to me. Although we decided that its hard to play that game cuz we talk to much... Sequence is not a game you can talk during. It takes focus, if you wanna win. Which of course, I DO! Sunday morning we got up and took our time getting ready to leave. I really have enjoyed going on trips with just Jacob and I lately. Its so fun to get away and actually be able to pay attention to each other. It seems like we are always so focused on work, house, kids, that we rarely focus on each other. We've probably left too much lately, but... what do you do. The kids love to stay with Grandparents and seem to have lots of fun! And we have great parents that are always willing to help out! Thanks guys!

Thanks for a fun weekend Sun & Cory! We had a blast! Can't wait to do it agian!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! We had the funnest night! We started out earlier in the day a bunch of us girls all getting ready together for our big night out. It was reminiscent of high school, I know, but we had a blast. We'd all gone and bought formal dresses from Mariposa, (which because of a sale they had the dresses were $7./piece!)We did each others hair and makeup and it was so fun! Then we went to PF Changs for Tarina Lowes bday and headed up to their house after for a birthday party! Then off to the Richland Red Lion for some DANCING! We got there and weren't really sure it was our type of scene, but decided that was as good as it was going to get in the TriCities and to just go for it! We had a big enough group that we just kind of hung out on the dance floor together. We danced from 11-Midnight, never even taking a break. Our wonderful husbands, who you could tell would rather be just about anywhere else, (well most of them at least, a couple of them seemed to get into it) Ok mostly I speak for Jacob. Hip Hop type dancing at a local hotel is just not his thing. But he stayed out there the whole time so I could have fun. We had a blast and were all wondering why there are no adult dances throughout the year... Once a year is just not enough. Here are some pictures of the night and our great friends!

Goals for 2009

Tonight for FHE we talked about setting goals for the year. Then we cut out pictures of things we wanted to work on. Kyson has a picture of Earth. He wants to help keep the Earth clean. I thought that was pretty cute. Most of the other ones are self explanatory. Mine mostly revolve around losing weight, being a better person and mom, getting out of debt... you know the same things I had for last year. At some point I hope I reach these goals so I can make new ones. It seems like year after year the goals are the same. I guess at least we are trying. I am 45 pounds lighter than last year, so that is GOOD! Plus we made it to Hawaii, twice and did a big family trip. Those were all goals I had. So we are making progress. Good luck with all your New Years Goals...

Winter Pics!

This snow is CRAZY! I can't believe how much we've had. How about this... I got off the plane from Hawaii, in flipflops, capris and a t-shirt. The flight attendant looked at me and said, "good luck with that", as I got off the plane into a bunch of snow and you know good old Pasco airport where you have to walk outside from the plane into the airport. It was freezing. But... the kids love it! They have been having so much fun. We are lucky enough to live in a culdesac, and they plowed the snow into a huge pile right in front of our house. I can barely keep the boys inside. Kennedy too, she loves it. Here are some pics of the boys sledding down the pile.

Here is Kyson at his first piano recital. He did so good. He played "Do You Hear What I Hear" and "Santa Clause Is Coming To Town" He did awesome! He wasn't shy at all about the people. We are so proud of him for doing such a great job. He practices every day, and is really enjoying it!

We didn't do gingerbread men or houses at all this year, which was kind of a bummer, but I just didn't have it in me this year. So for all of you who were probably expecting a house, because you've gotten them for the last 6 years....don't feel bad, no one got one. I love decorating them, but the rest of the process is just not something I enjoy I decided last year. So this year, I just made sugar cookies and made some gingerbread shaped ones for the kids to decorate. They were just as good I suppose, although notice the orange frosting... good things kids don't care about stuff like using Halloween frosting for Christmas cookies...

This was while Jacob was setting up light this year. The boys love to help out. It freaks me out, but Jacob is really careful with them. I don't think I have a pic of the lit up house, but it was beautiful with the lights all up. One of my other very favorite things about Christmas time. Thanks Jacob for hanging them up, I know it is definately NOT your very favorite part of Christmas!

Ok. Those are my random pics for now. I feel like I have so many pictures and things to post. So there will probably be quite a few posts over the next few days! Check back soon!

Like New!

My mother and father-in-law had this bedroom set that they were kind enough to give me for Kennedy's room. I think they are so cute. They were a yellow and antiquey looking so I decided to repaint them white and replace the knobs with glass looking ones. I think they turned out so cute. And all for the low low cost of paint and knobs... about $50. Can you say "SWEET!" I am so excited! They also have a headboard that whenever we move Kennedy out of her crib I will also repaint. Just thought I'd share!
