The Host, Stephanie Meyer

So again, I picked up this book when it first came out and read what it was about, and put it down. Too wierd for me. I am just not into Sci-Fi kinda things. Aliens? Yuck! (I did that with Twilight too, the first sentence, "Edward is a vampire..." had me putting the book right back on the shelf.) But then I kept hearing how good it was so I read it, and LOVED it, and the 2nd and 3rd. I didn't actually like the ending of the 3rd one as much, I had to go back and reread the 2nd one again. Anyway, I wasn't going to read this one, but I kept hearing about it and seeing it around, so I finally picked it up. I started it on Wed. and got thru 365 pages that day. Then I was so busy yesterday I didn't get to read it at all and then today I finished it, all 600+ pages. I haven't checked my email, and my house is a wreck... It was really good. Kinda slow in the beginning, jumpy and sorta confusing. But by page 80ish I was hooked. I was balling so hard finishing it up today I could barely make the words out on the page. (I can't remember really crying while reading a book before, well... maybe Firea and the Covenant.)... I couldn't figure out how it could have a good ending. But Stephannie Meyer doesn't disappoint. Again. I reallly enjoyed the story. Now back to life, huh? I love books and when I am reading a good one, I can't put it down! So everything else pretty much gets neglected.

Can't wait till Aug. 4th, when #4 of the Twilight series comes out! Yea!

I have heard a lot about Twilight too but haven't brought myself to read it. Maybe I need to...Is this the same author? I think we always used to like the same kinds of books. I should try them out.

I am such a read-a-holic like you. (I have visions of us in geometry reading behind our textbooks)...anyway I have started getting the audio versions of books and putting them on my ipod. I actually look forward to doing dishes or sitting in the car or laundry or whatever because I get to listen to my books. It makes me more productive! You should try it.

Thats a great idea! The only book I have on my IPod is "The Secret", have you read or heard that? It is very fascinating. Yea, Twilight is the same author, and they are really good, quick reads. You will like them. I don't know of anyone whose read them and not enjoyed them, except my sister wasn't crazy about them, she doesn't like the way she writes..., Anyway, you should grab them. Let me know what you think.

PS- did we do that in Geometry? No wonder I did not do well in that class. Thats funny. I don't even remember that, but it doesn't surprise me at all!

We totally did that in geometry! I think the only reason I passed that class was because that was the sememster I was in that accident and that teacher felt sorry for me. Hate geometry to this day though...maybe we should have payed more attention :)

I don't know if I'm the other friend Annette's referring too or if I make 3 who haven't read it yet. I just wasn't interested in reading a book about vampires but last week my friend finally just handed me the book and said read it. She wouldn't take no for an answer. So I'm now about half way through Twilight. It's pretty good so far.
I saw signs at Barnes and Noble saying you can come stand in line at midnight on Aug 4th to be the first to get you're copy of the new book coming out in August. Pretty serious business I guess.
Well off to read a little more.

We read the book Twilight for book club. I wasn't a huge fan. I was the ONLY one in the group who didn't love the series though. I don't think I am a romantic enough person! :)

Count me in as one that hasn't read the Twilight series. And my sister as one who hated it. She was disturbed that all the Young Women's leaders in her ward were having their girls read it because they said it's such a clean book, but she said the girl is constantly making out with this guy and rebelling against her parents, sneaking out of the house to go be with him. She didn't find that a great example for the young women. Plus, she thought it was a very bad example to them of what a good or "real" relationship is. Her big beef was with all the moms and YW leaders having their young girls read it, claiming it was fine because it was an LDS book.

When I hear everyone rave about a movie, I tend to be disappointed in it by the time I go see it because my expectations are so high. I think that's one reason I'm staying away.

So Melanie- I totally agree with you. I don't think I'd have let my younger daughter read it. Her and Edward were kind of risk`e... but I enjoyed it. I am surprised by how many of you guys haven't read it yet. I didn't think I'd like it at all, so I was pleasantly surprised. But I get what you are saying about being disappointed after all of the hype. You'll have to let me know what you think, if you ever read it.
