Really? 5 months?

I can't believe its been ummmm.... 5 months since I posted anything. I think ever since I've had my IPhone I do almost everything on it, so I never get on the computer anymore. Some time soon I will catch up with pictures... Let's see; the last 5 months have included: Ky's birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kennedy's birthday, New Years, Valentine's Day, My Birthday, many trips to Utah for Jacob and I, Basketball Season for the boys, and now we are into Soccer and Spring Break is next week.

I turned 33 last week. What a fun week. My friend Pam's birthday was on Monday so a few of my closest friends and I did Pedi's and lunch for her birthday. Then with mine on Wednesday we got together again and Pam and Amanda had set up a scavenger hunt to do at Target. Tiffany and Brooke also showed up there at the same time so did it with us. We ran all over the store putting the biggest pair of underwear, a sexy shirt, a comfy pair of flip flops, a fabulous green shirt, (which was not to be found), favorite candy, fuzzy socks... and many many more fun things... and then they bought me the stuff! Well, not all of it, some of it was to throw me off that the stuff was for me. Then we went to IHOP for crepes, which were sooooo yummy! It was such a fun day! I'm so greatful for my friends. They really made a big deal out of my birthday and let me know how important I was to them. It was AWESOME!

That morning, I had decided I really wanted to get a new guitar. I was going to go see if I could trade in the one I have and get the next one up. Mine was a couple hundred dollars, then the next one is like $700. and they go up from there... Up to $3000.00 and more, I'm sure.... Well, we had been out at our friend's Leslie and Ira's the weekend before and Ira has been making himself guitars. They are AWESOME!!! and BEAUTIFUL!!! And as good as the super expensive guitars for less money because he builds them from scratch. It's AMAZING! He showed us how he does it and it was just incredible to me how talented he is and what he's been able to teach himself. THen we sat around playing them and singing; it was so fun, and it sounded good even when I played it :) I kept thinking, "Man, I wish I could pay Ira to make me a guitar!" But it's a hobby to him and something he does for fun, not to make and sale to others.... So I tell Jacob on my birthday that I want to trade in my guitar. He tells me he was actually just down at the music store, because he knew I wanted one, and they have a REALLY nice guitar... for the low low price of $2,999.00! Seriously?! If I was going to spend $3000. on a musical instrument it would be a new piano!!! Then he says, come with me out to the truck (we were at gymnastics with Kennedy). My first thought is did he buy me a guitar? I knew he wanted to but not sure that's where we want to spend even the $700. We go out to his truck, and he hands me this long skinny square box... NOT a guitar box, obviously. I open in up and there is a piece of wood, raw, shaped kinda like the arm of a guitar book, and magazines with tons of pictures of guitars... I'm looking at it like "what is this?" Then it dawns on me... He is going to MAKE ME a guitar! My very own, personalized, just for me, made by my love of my life, guitar! I was so excited!!! I couldn't believe it. I guess after seeing what Ira was doing he had called him the next day and asked if Ira would be willing to assist him in making me one for my birthday. Ira was all for it and so the planning began. We spent the afternoon of my birthday looking at pictures of guitars picking out the different pieces, what I want it to look like, color, wood, design, knobs... everything. I found some pictures of some I kind of like and then told Jacob to go for it. I trust him. And I will love whatever he comes up with. It's going to be BEAUTIFUL!!! And there is something so touching about knowing that someone is putting so much time and effort into something for me. Something that is important to me and that I have come to love doing. It's so much better than had he just bought me one, which I still would've loved with my whole heart, but this is so beyond words...

Anyway, I am soooo super excited and can't wait to see it. I'll post pictures as soon as its done! It was totally the BEST birthday EVER! That night for dinner we went with the kids to Red Robin and then had some friends over for Fruit pizza! Which Jacob and the kids made and it was soooo good! YUMMY! Thank you everyone for making my birthday a special day and for sacrificing of your time to spend it with me. I really do have the best friends, and the BESTEST husband and family EVER!

We loved having you and Jacob over for the BBQ, and look what it lead to...a new guitar for you and me both (did you know Ira decided to build one for me too?) I think this is Ira's way of encouraging me to learn to play. And it's so fun for Ira to spend time in the shop with Jacob building our guitars. And get this, mom wants me, you, Jacob and Ira to play and sing something at the Stoneridge reunion so be thinking of what you want to play. I think we should do one from Taylor Swift. So fun. Love ya!
